Gamers Anonymoust A, Pradhiklaran Youth Forum in quarter finals

Pune, Dec 5 (UNI) Sameer Bidwai gave a superlative display with two solid breaks of 52 and 38, to whip Jayant Sajgure in straight three frames in the best of five frames to lead Gamers Anonymous A' to 3-nil triumph to storm into the quarter finals of the PYC-ATC Snooker Challenge 2006 here today.

This premier PYC (Hindu) Gymkhana hosted ATC (Shipping Corporation) sponsored championship, saw debutant Pradhikaran Youth Forum end the challenge of Poona Goan Institute B' by a narrow 2-1 margin to earn a berth in the quarter finals.

Abhisekh Deshmukh provided Gamers Anonymous the launching pad with a thrilling 3-2 frames triumph over Prasad Date. After winning the first frame narrowly by just 12 points, he dropped the next two only to win the fourth and fifth frames by the skin of his teeth to put his team in the lead by 44-33, 13-22, 35-73, 36-33, 75-70.

Veteran Arvind Mirajkar and Sameer Bidwai, showed their class to outclass their opponents Sham Patankar 3-1 and Jaytant Sajgure 3-nil to give them a clean 3-nil team win.

Pradhikaran Youth Forum (PYF), however had to fight hard to overcome the Poona Goan Institute B' by a narrow 2-1 margin. Rahul Patil beat back a strong challenge from Tony D'Silva by a 3-2 margin.

Arsh Siddiqui, however, won his spurs by conquering Marcel Dsilva by 3-1 only to see Bipin Sankpal go down to Nelson Ssouza in a nonconsequential match by 3-2 frames.
