Entrepreneurship must for 10 pc annual growth: Mahabir

New Delhi, Dec 6 (UNI) If India has to achieve an annual growth rate of more than 10 per cent, entrepreneurship development is the need of the hour, Small Scale Industries Minister Mahabir Prasad said today.

''The micro, small and medium enterprises provide maximum opportunity of employment and contribute to economic development.'' he said, while inaugurating the 23rd annual meeting of the Executive Council of the National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (NIESBUD), Noida.

He said NIESBUD planned to conduct 60 training programmes for 1,600 entrepreneurs and target 90 per cent cost recovery during 2006-07.

He urged NIESBUD to take advantage of the new Micro, Medium and Small Enterprises Development Act, 2006 and enhance the technological and management skills of the entrepreneurs.

Earlier, Mr Prasad launched the re-designed website of the Ministry of Small Scale Industries and Agro and Rural Industries.
