Drug addiction threatening Tai-Khampti: Mein

Itanagar, Dec 06: Education and Research Minister Chowna Mein hascalled for a multi-pronged approach to contain drug menace which hadspread its tentacles in Lohit, Changlang and Tirap district of thestate.

As per a UNDP report increasing of drug menace has poised a serious threat to Tai-Khampti tribe of Arunachal Pradesh .

Mein assured all possible support to establish a de-addiction andrehabilitation center as proposed by Arunachal Pali Vidyapith (APV)while addressing the executive body meeting of APV at Chongkhamrecently, official sources said.

Appreciating APV, particularly its secretary Rev. BhikkhuVimalananda for its multifarious activities against drug abuse, Meinsaid that APV sould be considered as a heritage center, for it has beena seat of learning and could help promote and preserve Tai and Palilanguages and literatures, sources added.
