Detailed investigation and planning a must for water projects: Soz
New Delhi, Dec 6 (UNI) Union Minister for Water Resources Saifuddin Soz today argued for a detailed investigation and meticulous planning in major and medium irrigation and water related projects requiring huge investments.
Addressing the Consultative Committee Meeting of the Ministry of Water Resources on the agenda 'Role and functions of Central Water and Power Research Station (CWPRS), in Pune' he said the project components also require due consideration for safety and economy.
Prof Soz said the research stations have to play an important role as future projects will be relatively more complex with the favourable options already been exploited.
Lauding the efforts of CWPRS, the Minister said it is one of the oldest research stations in the country with rich experience in research of various types of hydraulic structures. The organisation has been associated with hydraulic studies of most of the important water resources structures of the country.
Minister of State for Water Resources J P Yadav, in his address said the integrated development and management of Water Resources is very important for the economic and social progress of our country.
The MPs who participated in the meeting were Mr SPY Reddy, Mr Manjunath Kunnur, Mr Prashanta Pradhan, Sitaram Singh, Dr Rattan Singh Ajnala, Mr Hiten Barman, Mr Pratik Prakashbapu Patil from Lok Sabha and Dr Gyan Prakash Pilania and Ms NP Durga from Rajya Sabha to name a few.
