Dalits submit memorandum to district Collector

Surat, Dec 6 (UNI) Hundreds of Dalits today organised a rally from Man Darwaja to Dr Ambedkar Garden at Sayidpura here to protest against the removal of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar and Gautam Buddha statues at Man Darwaja area.

Republican Party of India (Gujarat) Vice President Mavjibhai Vadhel said Surat Municipal Corporation had removed the statues from the Railway Colony in Man Darwaja on March 22.

''In spite of many requests, SMC has not reinstated the statues,'' Mr Vadhel said, adding that they had submitted a memorandum to district Collector in protest against the SMC attitude.
