Cornwallis opens Rs 4 cr old age home in B'lore
Bangalore, Dec 6: Cornwallis Masonic Home for senior citizens today opened a Rs four-crore Home at Bandekodiganahalli, near Devananahalli International Airport, coming up near the city.
District Grand Master of Madras K R N Menon said that the facility, taken up by the District Grand Lodge of Madras, had 50 dwelling units in its first phase built on a three-acre plot. The home was opened by a Retired Lord Cornwallis.
The District Grand Logde of Madras was the administrative and controlling body of Freemasons' Lodges functioning in the states of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Kerala.
Freemasonry was a worldwide movement which had its functional units, entities, called the lodges. It was an Order based on the principles of the universal brotherhood of man and the fatherhood of God, Mr Menon said adding that, the Order was brought to India by the British about 300 years ago. The movement had taken firm roots with membership spread across the country and a wide strata of the society consisting of individuals from various walks of life.
Relief or charity was the major activity of Freemasonry.
