CLP rules out early polls to Goa Legislative Assembly
Panaji, Dec 6 (UNI) The Congress Legislature party (CLP) has decided to call on party president Sonia Gandhi shortly to apprise her of the developments in Goa and the party's preparations to face the elections as per schedule in May next year.
The members are likely to draw her attention to the anti- Government outbursts of South Goa MP Churchil Alemao, which is against party discipline and cohesion, sources said.
The CLP meeting was held at Altinho, the official residence of Goa Chief Minister Pratapsingh Rane last evening. The meeting was attended by all the office-bearers of the CLP, except the Power Minister Digambar Kamat and Panchayat Raj Minister Subhash Shirodkar. The duo were out of station.
Ruling out the speculation regarding early polls to the State Legislative Assembly, CLP spokesperson Mr Jitendra Deshprabhu said the assembly elections are as per scheduled in May next year.
''We will allow the completion of the full term of the current assembly. The polls will be held on schedule. It should not be linked to the panchayat polls due to be in January next year,'' he said.
