Shillong, Dec 6 (UNI) Brazailian Army Chief, General Francisco Boberto De Albuquerque will visit the Counter Insurgency and Jungle Warfare School (CIJW) in Vairangte on December 8.

He will be accompanied by his wife Mrs. Maria Antonina Tecxeira Pinto De Albuquerque. This is the first visit by the Brazilian army Chief to the school. It is in response to the visit of Indian Army Chief General J J Singh to Brazil earlier this year.

On his arrival at the school the Brazilian Army Chief will be received by the Commandant CIJW School, Brig R M Painuly, who will also brief the visiting dignitary about the training infrastructure available at the school.

During the visit the visiting General will also witness certain training activities being carried out at the school. There has been a growing convergence and mutual concern of both nations and this may be the initial step towards joint military training in future.

The CIJW School, being the centre of excellence in Counter Insurgency and Jungle Warfare training, has been attracting foreign armies for training. In the recent past troops of the US, Mongolian and Uzbekistan armies were trained in the school. Army delegations from England, Israel, Singapore and Maldives had also visited the school recently.

Troops from Nigerian and Indonesian armies are also likely to join the school for training early next year. The school has grown in strength and popularity as one of the world class training institutions of the Indian Armed forces.
