Babri Masjid ann: Raza academy to approach Gov

Mumbai, Dec 6: Observing the 14th anniversary of the demolition ofthe Babri Masjid today, members of the Raza academy will submit amemorandum to Maharashtra Governor S M Krishna, demandingreconstruction of the demolished portions of the mosque and immediateimplementation of the Srikrishna Commission report.

The demolition of the masjid had triggered large-scale communalriots in Mumbai in 1992-93 and the government had subsequently set upthe Justice Srikrishna Commission to probe into the riots. Thecommission in its report had indicted several top officals andpoliticians for their complicity in these riots. However, till date thereport has not been implemented.

General Secretary of Raza Academy Maulana Mohammed Syed Noori toldUNI that in their memorandum they will also demand that theinvestigation into the recent Malegoan blasts be handed over to theCBI.

He alleged that the local police and state agencies investigatingthe Malegoan blasts are biased towards the minority community due towhich they are singled out for victimisation and in the bargain thereal culprits behind the blasts will never be found.

Later in the day, Maulana Manzoor Ali Khan from the Minar-e-Masjid will lead 14 Ulemas, in making a simultaneous 'Azan call' toprotest against the demolition of the Babri Masjid in Ayodhya in UttarPradesh. The 14 Ulemas will make the 'Azan call' from Mohammed AliRoad, Mandvi Post office, Bhendi Bazaar and Khatri Masjid, sources said.
