Aged couple murder case: 8 persons taken into custody

Kanpur, Dec 6 (UNI) Eight peple were taken into police custody today in connection with the murder of an aged couple here.

Agitated by the incident, a mob 'gheraoed' the Kakadev police station premises and shouted anti-police slogans. They alleged the cops wanted an appreciation by arresting innocent people.

In order to disperse the mob, police had to use mild lathi charge. The police, however, rufuted the charges.

Superintendent of Police (Western) Gulab Singh said no innocent person would be arrested but people would be interrogated in order to trace the accused.

An aged couple Khem Chandra and his wife Basant were found murdered inside their house in Kakadeo area yesterday.

The childless couple were strangled by unidentified miscreants on Monday night.

Meanwhile, investigations were on.
