58th Annual Cardiological Conference from tomorrow

New Delhi, Dec 6: With coronary heart diseases (CHD) increasing at an alarming rate in India, healthcare experts will converge here for the 58th Annual Cardiological Conference and evolve guidelines for formulating advanced patient care.

As many as 5000 delegates, including physicians, cardiologists, and vascular surgeons, will participate in the four-day conference, commencing from December 7.

Thirty international experts will deliver lectures on the recent cutting edge technologies in cardiology, focussing on advances and innovations, including those in preventive cardiology, congestive heart failure and cardio diabetes. Experts from SAARC countries will also participate in the conference, which has the theme of ''Prevention to Intervention''.

Organised by the Cardiological Society of India, the conference will have a ''free paper session'' where research papers will be taken up for discussion, besides seminars and workshops.

''Experts will discuss the innovation and their experiences over the last one year... At the end of the conference, we will try and evolve guidelines for improving cardiology treatment in India,'' said Prof V K Bahl, Organising Secretary and AIIMS Head of Cardiology.

Prof Bahl said all aspects of cardiology will be taken up for deliberations.

''We want to share our experiences on the latest developments in cardiology and related fields,'' he added In India, the healthcare scenario comprises the extreme and and a balance has to be attained on making treatment available to the poorest of the poor , Prof Bahl said.

''We have to deal with old, new as well as emerging problems in healthcare and doctors have to keep evolving strategies to deal with all these situations,'' he pointed out.
