4 including 2 former cops given life imprisonment

Hardoi, Dec 6 (UNI) A court today pronounced life imprisonment on four persons, including two retired policemen, in a 24-year-old abduction case here.

According to prosecution, on February 12, 1983, Ramhet was abducted by constable Ram Karan and his aides Rajendra and Kallu from Babarpur village in Pali.

Ramhet was assaulted by then station officer Jaipal Singh Grewal, sub-inspector Jandel Singh, constable Ram Karan and Babu Ram.

However, in police record, it was shown that Ramhet had escaped from the custody.

Six persons were booked in the abduction case.

On the basis of evidence and testimony, Fast Track Court Judge Suresh Chandra sentenced life imprisonment to Jaipal, Jandel, Rajendra and Kallu, besides imposing a fine of Rs 10,000 each on them.

Babu Ram and Ram Karan had died during trial.
