300 ancient bronze coins found in Haryana

Chandigarh, Dec 6 (UNI) Over 300 ancient bronze coins, estimated to be about 2,000 years old, have recently been excavated from Ballah village in Karnal district of Haryana.

Haryana Minister of State for Archaeology Meena Mandal, who visited the village today, said the coins, which bore the image of the king on one side, were in a damaged condition.

The Minister instructed the officials of the Archaeology department to take possession of the coins.

She said the coins would be studied by the officials of the department to verify the exact year of their origin.

She also directed the officials of the department to increase the momentum of the excavation works being carried out in the area for digging out the articles of historical importance.
