1 apprehended for melting coins, 435 Kg coins recovered
New Delhi, Dec 6 (UNI) The Special branch of police today arrested 42-year-old Ramesh Chhabra for melting coins.
Coins worth Rs 2 lakh were also recovered from his possession, the police claimed.
According to a release, total weight of coins and bars made from melted coins is approximately 435 kg. Chhabra's sustained interrogation has revealed that he ran a factory at Kavi nagar industrial area in Ghazaiabad. The search also yielded 3 more bags of coins.
Ramesh told the police about how he collected the coins from Alwar, Nagpur to melt them into bars of approximately 27 kg each at his factory.
The bars are much sought after by the jewellers making artificial items, he told.
