Winning day for Indian Boxers
Doha, Dec 5 (UNI) It was a winning day for Indian pugilists as all the three in action won their bouts out pointing their rivals in the Boxing competition of the Asian Games here this evening.
Manoj Kumar (Super light, 64 kg), Vijender Kumar (middle, 75 kg) and Harpreet Singh (Heavy, 91 kg) recorded fluent victories, though all three won on points.
Manoj chalked out a very authentic and convincing win over Chinese Taipei's Tsai Yao Chun whom he defeated 25-10.
The Indian took time to settle down in the first round which he won 4-3 but once he found his rhythm there was no stopping him.
Chun was very inadequate in his technique, though he tried to land punches on his rival he kept his defence open and Manoj took advantage of that.
The Indian won the next three rounds with ease 9-3, 7-3, 5-1 to move into the second round.
Harpreet had to face some resistance in the second round against another Chinese Taipei boxer Tsai Li.
The burly Indian opened the round cautiously but managed to win it rather easily 6-2. However Tsai fought well in the next round before losing it to Harpreet 5-6 and after that he gave up. The Indian punched his rival hard in the next two round which he won 5-3 and 9-2.
Vijender Kumar thrashed Syrian Mustafa Farrah in an uneven bout.
