Kalam reaches Kolkata on a two-day visit
Kolkata, Dec 5 (UNI) President APJ Abdul Kalam arrived here tonight on a two-day visit to the city during which he will participate in as many as six programmes.
Accompanied by Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram, Dr Kalam is arrived at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport by an IAF aircraft at around 21-30 hours, official sources said.
Dr Kalam was received at the airport by West Bengal Governor Gopal Krishna Gandhi. He will spend the night at Raj Bhavan.
Tomorrow morning Dr Kalam will first inaugurate the Infocom-2006 at Salt Lake before participating in five other programmes, including the inauguration of the Centenary celebrations of National Insurance Company, Convocation of the Indian Institute of Social Welfare and Business Management(IISWBM) and the Shrutinandan besides a programme of the Calcutta Girls School in different parts of the city.
He is scheduled to return to New Delhi the same evening,the sources added.
