Court discharges 6 SIMI activists
Nagpur, Dec 5 (UNI) A local court here today discharged six activists of the outlawed Students' Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), acquitting them of the charge of planting pipe bombs at two places in the city over five years ago after a court in Jalgaon acquitted them earlier this year of identical charges.
Additional District and Sessions Judge acquitted Waqar Ul Hassan, Sheikh Irfan, Sheikh Iliyas, Sheikh Siddiqui, Sharif Khan and Shaheed Ahmed of the charge of placing pipe bombs at two places in the city in May 2001.
They all were facing identical charges in a court in Jalgaon, which had on May 12 acquitted them of the same.
Two other SIMI activists, charged with manufacturing the bombs in Jalgaon and transporting them to Nagpur, are still on trial.
