HC dismisses women cops plea on gender-bias

Chandigarh, Dec 4 (UNI) Punjab and Haryana High Court today dismissed the bunch of writ petition filed by Gurdev Kaur, incharge women cell of police, Panchkula and others against the Haryana government orders to revert them to the previous posts of sub-inspectors.

They were promoted by the previous government but reverted by the present regime on the ground that the promotions were given against the posts meant for their male counterparts.

The division bench of Justice M M Kumar and Justice M M Bedi, which pronounced the verdict, upheld the state government's decision about the 32 women inspectors.

Pending decision on petitions, the court had ordered status quo and the petitioners were occupying posts of inspectors till now.
