Single-stage missile to be test fired shortly
Hyderabad, Dec 3 (UNI) Air Defence (AD) Programme Director and Chief Controller of Research and Development of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) V K Saraswath today announced that 'AAD Missile', a single-stage 'Endo Atmospheric' missile, would be test fired in three to four months.
Addressing the press here, Dr Saraswat said the missile, which has a range of 10 to 30 km altitude with hypersonic speed, was getting ready to test fire. The development of the 'integration of missile flight' was under progress. It was the first time that such a missile would be test-fired with hypersonic speed in the atmosperic zone he said.
Stating that India was one among the four countries successfully developing a new generation missile defence system after testing AD target-2 missile, a two stage missile on November 27, he said the DRDO had taken five years to develop new technology in the area of ballistic missiles.
He said ''we will conduct six to seven trails and remove short comings in the usage of advanced missiles. The advanced technology will come in to usage by three to four years in the country''.
Keeping in mind meeting the security requirements of the country, the DRDO developed PAD AD target interception mission which was in complete weapon system configuration with weapon system radars and fusion computers, Dr Saraswat added.
