Golden Peacock for Reliance Energy, ONGC, HPCL

New Delhi, Dec 3: Reliance Energy, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd and Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd have been awarded the coveted Golden Peacock Coporate Governance Award for 2006.

The four companies were selected from 17 shorlisted companies out of 78 aplications. The prominent corporates in race were Punjab National Bank (PNB), Bharat Forge and Life Insurance Corporation (LIC).

The Golden Peacock award recognises the management's commitment to the highest standards of corporate conduct and to corporate social responsibility as a distinct activity that helps build commendable social values and adds to the ethical fibre of the organisation.

Instituted by the Institute of Directors (IOD) in 1991, the annual Golden Peacock awards jury for excellence in corporate governance is headed by the former chief justice of India P N Bhagwati and comprises eminent bureaucrats and senior government functionaries.
