Punjab rout MP and Chandigarh thrash AP in Hockey

Chandigarh, Dec 3 (UNI) Chandigarh and Punjab boys registered facile victories in the boys Under-17 hockey matches on the third day of the 52nd National School Games here today.

The Chandigarh boys team outplayed Andhra Pradesh in all departments of the game as they raced to an easy 16-0 win. Ranjodh Singh, Harinder Singh and Preetinder Singh scored three goals each.

The winners' other goal-getters were Deepak (2), Lovdeep (2), Dupinder (1), Sandeep (1) and Impreet (1). Harinder Singh gave an oustanding performance as Punjab routed Madhya Pradesh by 11-0.

The highlight of the one-sided match was a brilliant display by Harinder who scored five goals, including three-in-a-row. His goals came in the 37th, 46th, 48th, 55th and 58th minutes. Malak (2), Gurpreet, Jaskaran, Charanpreet and Sukhdeep (1 each) were the other scorers for Punjab.

However, Punjab and Karnataka girls split points as they played a one-all draw. Later, Punjab girls defeated Andhra Pradesh by 2-0.
