Haryana receives FDI of Rs 680 crore

Chandigarh, Dec 3 (UNI) The Haryana government has received foreign direct investment (FDI) of Rs 680 crore, during last one and a half years.

Besides, industrial projects having investment of Rs 10,000 crore had been implemented by generating employment for 15,000 persons.

A spokesperson said the new industrial policy implemented by the state government had proved a boon and as a result of new industrial policy, 29 new large and medium scale industrial units had been set up in the state at a cost of Rs 348 crore and employment had been provided to 3,365 persons in these units.

He said that 1,356 small scale units had also been set up during the same period investing a sum of Rs 31 crore besides providing employment to 8,415 persons.

He said that Government of India had also accorded its approval for setting up of National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management in the state at a cost of Rs 350 crore.

He said that the project would be first of its kind in the country. Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructre Development Corporation had offered to allot 100 acres of land for this project at Kundli.

He said that an Irradiation Centre had also been set up in private sector at Bahalgarh in district Sonepat with an investment of Rs 18 crore.

He said that the facilities provided in this centre would increase the shelf life of food products besides a Cold Chain Project was being set up at Rai in Sonepat district by Container Corporation of India.

He said that for the promotion of automobile industry, Ministry of Heavy Industries, Government of India had accorded its approval for setting up of National Automotive Testing and R&D Infrastructure Project at a cost of Rs 400 crore at Industrial Modeltown, Manesar.

The State Government would provide 40 acres of land for this project, he added.

Under the Cluster Development Scheme, envisaged by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, he said that a textile cluster at Panipat was being developed with an investment of Rs 54.53 crore. Besides, Light Engineering Goods Cluster at Faridabad was also coming up very fast with an investment of Rs 80 crore.

He said that Government of India was also actively considering for setting up of Auto Parts Cluster at Gurgaon at a cost of Rs 67 crore.
