Haryana govt earmarks Rs 6,253 cr as agricultural loan

Chandigarh, Dec 3 (UNI) Haryana government has earmarked a sum of Rs 6,253 crore for disbursement as agriculture loan to the farmers in the state during the current financial year as against Rs 4,575 crore during the last year.

While giving the information, Minister of State Cooperation Ms Meena Mandal said the farmers of state had got a benefit of Rs 43 crore during last year, due to reduction of two per cent rate of interest.

The Minister said the Central Cooperative Bank had also reduced the rate of interest from 11 per cent to 10 per cent from May 1, 2005 thus benefitting to the tune of Rs 30 crore about 12 lakh farmers of the state.

She apprised that besides this one per cent remission had also been given to those farmers who were timely depositing their loan installments.

Mrs Mandal said that out of total loan, 65 per cent loan was being provided to the marginal and small farmers so that they could get maximum benefit of the schemes launched by state government.

She said that farmers were being provided the crops loan upto Rs one lakh without any collateral security besides farmers could get a sum of Rs three lakh as loan under Revolving Cash Credit Schemes.

With a view to increase the resources of Primary Cooperative Agriculture Societies in the state, a Deposit Guarantee Scheme had also been launched in the state from November 2005, under which an insurance of Rs 50,000 was being made by the HARCO Bank.

She said that the rate of interest of long term loans had also been reduced to eight per cent upto loan amounting to Rs 50,000, being given by the Cooperative Agriculture and Rural Development Bank.
