UAC to organise dharna against anti-people policies
Vijayawada, Dec 2 (UNI) The United Action Committe (UAC) of farmers and farm labourers associations will organise dharna before the district collectorates in Andhra Pradesh on December 11 and in front of the State Assembly at Hyderabad on December 18.
The dharna was to protest against the Centre and State government for pusuing 'anti-people' policies and implementing World Bank policies, All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) Vice-President Kolli Nageswara Rao told reporters here today.
Mr Rao alleged that due to World Bank anti-people policies, the government had reduced subisidies, resulting in increase in the agriculture expenditure and farmers not getting the Minimum Support Price (MSP).
The UAC demanded that the government waive crop loans upto Rs one lakh, reissue loans on 25 paise interest, cancel lease amount of farmers, who were cultivating endowments lands, compensation of Rs 2,500 per acre as crop damage under the crop insurance scheme and fix MSP at Rs 1,500 per tonne on sugarcane, among other things. he said.
