Rural bank staff to march to Parliament on Dec 5

Hyderabad, Dec 2 (UNI) The Joint Forum of Gramin Bank Unions (JFGBU) will march to Parliament'on December five demanding implementation of banking pension scheme in Regional Rural Banks (RRB), AP RRB Employees Association General Secretary S Venkat Reddy said today.

In a release here, he said rural bank employees were denied parity with commercial bank staff on allowances and service conditions.

Demanding that the Centre take steps to recruit staff in rural banks and implement promotion policy, he said the union would hold a one-day all India strike on January 5, 2007 if the Centre failed to initiate a process for amicable settlement of issues.

About 5000 staff including 250 RRB employees from the state would participate in the march in New Delhi.
