NGC emerge All India Champions at Signature Club golf C'ship

Maleka, Malaysia, Dec 2 (UNI) India's leading amateur Simarjeet Singh played a level-par 72 card to help Noida Golf Course successfully defend the McDowell's Signature Club Championship title in the all India finals at the A'Famosa Resort here today.

NGC scored a 16-point victory over their nearest rivals Eagleton Golf Resort in the four-team grand finale.

Royal Calcutta Golf Club (Kolkata) and United Services Club (Mumbai) finished third and fourth respectively.

NGC which comprised Simarjeet, Vijay Kumar, Brig Ashish Dube, Raghuvar Singh, Sonel Verma and Rajesh Jairath tallied 131 stableford points to emerge as the winners of the fifth edition of the mega event that connects over 30 golf clubs covering 31 cities and over 4000 golfers.

Eagleton Golf Resort, comprising Abhishek Jha, Karthikeya Murthy, Anjani Mandal, Chetan Meda, Vijaya Kumar and Ashok Kumar Meda finished with 115 points. RCGC tallied 111 points while the US Club had 91 points.

In the other exciting contests, Sonel Verma of the NGC won the McDowell's Signature Closest to the Pin while Anjani Mondal won the Business Outlook Closest to the pin award. Sudeep Chitlangia won both the Longest Drive contests on the Kingfisher Airlines hole and Visit Malaysia Tourism hole.

Alok Gupta of the hosts United Spirits won the Indiatimes Straightest drive award.
