FOKANA to promote medical tourism in Kerala
Kochi, Dec 2: As part of its development programme for Kerala, Federation of Kerala Associations in North America (FOKANA) will chalk out policies to promote medical tourism in the state.
Addressing media here today, FOKANA President Sasidharan Nair said the state had great potential for medical tourism as the cost of medical treatment was comparatively low.
''We will tie-up with super-specialty hopsitals in the state and try to rope in medical tourists to the state,'' he said.
The organisation was also planning to build 100 homes for people below poverty line (BPL) in the state and two homes would be distributed next year, he added.
In a bid to develop sports, especially athletics in the state, he said FOKANA would help provide specialised training in the US for promising sportspersons under the tutelage of ace athlete Carl Lewis.
FOKANA is an organisation with 50 member-associations spread over the US and Canada.
