DMK leader demands abolition of sales tax in UT

Puducherry, Dec 2 (UNI) Leader of the opposition and DMK Karaikal region convener A M H nazeem today called for the abolition of central sale tax in the Union Territory to save the traders.

In a statement here, Mr Nazeem said already the Union Territory was badly affected following the implementation of uniform floor rates of sale tax and if value-added tax was also introduced, the traders here would be able to afford.

The administration, therefore should take steps with the Union Government to abolish the central sale tax here, he added.
