St John's, Antigua, Dec 1 (UNI) The newly built Sri Vivian Richards Stadium will be handed over to the government of Antigua and Barbuda in January, two months before it hosts the first ever cricket World Cup in the Caribbean.

Announcing this Antigua and Barbuda Prime Minister Baldwin Spencer said the stadium has been entirely built by China and the handing over ceremony will take place on January 13.

''The name alone of our stadium summaries the high importance we attach to this facility and the event signaling its readiness for the games,'' Mr Spencer was quoted by CMC Sports as saying.

The stadium has been built on a cost of 22 million dollar, which were donated by China.
