UP minister against decked up girls visiting Haj house
Lucknow, Dec 1 (UNI) Firebrand Uttar Pradesh minister Md Azam Khan, known for his controversial remarks, today lamented the presence of 'kamsin' (glamourous teens) at the Lucknow Haj house and said women should adhere to a dress code while visiting the place to see off relatives.
Talking to mediapersons here, the state Parliamentary Affairs and Urban Development minister said people were turning up in hoards to see off their relatives leaving Haj pilgrimage. ''At times people come in three buses with their relatives...this creates administrative problems including provision of quality food,'' he said.
The minister claimed that if lesser number of people turned up to see off their relatives, then from next year onwards the Haj house would be able to provide more amenities and a 'clean' atmosphere.
The minister took a swipe at the 'decked up girls' who come to the Haj house to see off Hajis. He claimed the Haj house was not the place to turn up in such a dress. ''There should be a dress code for girls when they come to Haj house,'' he said.
The minister, also the Chairman of UP Haj Committee, referred to these girls as ''kamsin.'' The newly-inaugurated Haj House at Sarojini Nagar on the outskirts of the capital city is abuzz with activities as Haj special flights are leaving the Amausi airport here with pilgrims from Uttar Pradesh.
