Unlimited period tax exemption for film on Ambedkar: TN CM

Chennai, Dec 1 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today announced exemption of entertainment tax for an unlimited period for the film on Dr Ambedkar, the architect of Indian Constitution, scheduled for release later this month.

In a statement here, Mr Karunanidhi also announced an assistance of Rs 10 lakh to the National Film Development Council (NFDC), which produced the film, 'Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar.' Mr Karunanidhi had announced in 1997 that he would give an assistance of Rs 10 lakh to the NFDC when the film, made in English, was dubbed in Tamil and released here.

It was announced that the film was set for all India release in all languages this month, he said.
