TN CM condemns violent incidents in WB assembly
Chennai, Dec 1 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today expressed regret over 'unprecedented' violent incidents that took place in the West Bengal assembly yesterday.
In a statement here, he said the West Bengal Assembly Speaker H A Halim had rightly described it as 'black day' in Indian democracy.
Referring to the Speaker's announcement that the house would remain open to the public for six hours today, Mr Karunanidhi said 'at least after seeing the incident, members of not only the West Bengal Assembly, but other Assemblies should refrain from indulging in violent acts inside the house.' He commended Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram's remarks that the country's economic growth had touched 9.2 per cent, domestic production had increased and deficit was being bridged.
The Finance Minister had said these were indications of a healthy economy and this should be commended, the Chief Minister added.
