TN CM announces lifting of ban on recruitment of Village Assts

Chennai, Dec 1 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today announced the lifting of ban on recruitment of Village Assistants and ordered the appointment of 3,674 village assistants to be posted in revenue villages in the state.

The Chief Minister ordered the lifting of ban on recruitment, after it was brought to his notice that the absence of Village Assistants had prevented benefits of government's welfare schemes from reaching the people, an official release here said.

The Village Assistants would be appointed through Employment exchanges and an order to this effect was issued today.

To ensure that the benefits of government schemes reached the people at the earliest, the vacancies in all revenue villages would be filled up. In all, 3,674 Village Assistants would be appointed, the release said.

The previous Jayalalithaa government had imposed a ban on recruitment of Village Assistants on July six, 1995, it added.
