Self-rule to lead sailing boat of Kashmir to safe shores: PDP

Srinagar, Dec 1 (UNI) Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti today asserted that her party's self-rule formula is the most viable solution to resolve the vexed tangle, saying it will take the sailing boat of Kashmir to safe shores.

Addressing party workers here, she said self-rule would bring an ultimate end to the miseries of the people and extend them an opportunity to lead a dignified life full of promise and hope.

The PDP chief said Jammu and Kashmir has to play a pivotal role in shaping the sub-continent's political and economic scenario as it would be a hub of rapid activities facilitating the region's economic integration with the world.

Referring to recent statements of Leader of the Opposition Abdul Rahim Rather that the self-rule formula was a carbon copy of autonomy, she said if National Conference leaders feel so then what prevented them to come openly in support the proposal.

The PDP believed in principles and not political gimmicks, Ms Mufti said, adding that misconceptions created by some forces about the formula have almost evaporated as her party openly discussed the proposals at various forums.

She expressed satisfaction that the popularity of the self-rule proposal was gaining momentum among the people who were the real judges to accept or reject it.
