SC dismisses bail petition by Sadhu Yadav

New Delhi, Dec 1: The Supreme Court today dismissed the petition for anticipatory bail filed by Anirudh Yadav alias Sadhu Yadav, controversial RJD MP and brother-in-law of Union Railway Minister Laloo Prasad Yadav, in a forgery case.

Sadhu Yadav is facing allegations of forging the documents in the alleged sale and purchase of a vehicle in his bid to divert Bihar Flood Relief Scam-related money received by him.

The original owner of the vehicle no DL-7CA-9720 Suneeet Ranjan Raina has made a statement in Patiala House Court, New Delhi, that he never sold his vehicle to anybody as it was purchased by him with a loan from ICICI Bank, Connaught Place and the total outstandihg loan including interest is Rs 9,84,142.

During the ivestigation Rs 6 lakh were recovered from Sadhu Yadav which was suspected to be the bribe money he has allegedly received from Santosh Kumar Jha, another accused in the flood relief scam.

Sadhu Yadav, however, told the investigator that he has not taken any bribe, and the money recovered from him was the price of the vehicle he had sold to Santosh Jha.

During vigilance enquiry the papers of the vehicle were found forged and the papers did not have any no-objection certificate either from the Delhi Government or the ICICI Bank to which the vehicle had been hypothecated.

During the hearing, Justice Katju said, ''It is not a case of forgery but, in fact a case of money laundering.'' A bench comprising Justices S B Sinha and Markandey Katju while dismissing the petition, however, directed the petitioners to approach the trial court for the relief he is asking for.

Sadhu Yadav is one of the accused in the Rs 13.5 crore Bihar Flood Relef Scam case in which former district magistate (DM), Patna Gautam Goswami was the main accused.
