Nepalese Col accused of murdering Parliamentarian: Media Report
Kathmandu, Dec 1(UNI) Nepal's Parliamentary Investigation Committee today implicated an army colonel in the murder of MP Hem Narayan Yadav, media reports said here.
A report submitted to Parliament by the committee has concluded that Colonel Babu Krishna Karki of Indradhwoj Battallion was involved in the killing of MP Yadav, Kantipur quoted the report as saying.
''The committee also recommended the Government to immediately suspend the colonel, arrest him and charge him with murder'' it said.
''The committee also recommended appropriate action against Jay Prakash Upadhyaya, a fellow villager of MP Yadav, accusing him of playing the role of an informer in Yadav's murder'' it said.
MP Yadav, who was kidnapped from Kashaha along the Mahendra Highway on February 2, 2004 while on his way to participate in a party meeting, was found dead the next day on the banks of the Kamala River in Dhanusha district.
Kantipur said Colonel Karki is still in the army. Kantipur quoted Army spokesperson Ananta Bahadur Thebe as saying that 'if he is proven guilty, action will be taken against him.' UNI XC MQA HT2325
