Law and order normal in Roing: Singh
Itanagar, Dec 1(UNI) The overall situation of Roing assembly constituency, which is going to poll on December 4, is under control, according to state Home Commissioner V K Singh, who reviewed the law and order situation along with Inspector General of Police A K Sinha yesterday.
''There has been no report of any breach of law and order from any parts of the constituency and directives have been issued to the security agencies to maintain strict vigil to prevent any untoward incident before and after the election,'' he informed.
Chief Electoral Officer(CEO) K K Sharma also expressed satisfaction after reviewing the poll preparations at Roing yesterday, official sources said here today.
Mr Sharma held threadbare discussion with the District Electoral Officer cum Deputy Commissioner, Returning Officer and Superintendent of Police on various issues related to poll preparation, besides interacting with the representatives of political parties, including contestants, sources added.
Altogether 12,299 voters, including 6564 males, would exercise their franchise in 37 polling booths across the constituency to decide the fate of three candidates in the fray, including Dature Miuli of the Congress, Raje Menjo of the BJP and Independent candidate Laeta Umbrey.
Election to the Constituency was necessitated following resignation of sitting MLA Mukut Mithi after he was appointed as Pudicherry Lt Governor recently.
Meanwhile, all the political parties have intensified their last leg of electioneering which would come to end tomorrow evening, sources added.
