Bombay Sappers beat Tamil United 2-0 in Anand Memorial tourney

Pune, Dec 1 (UNI) Two quick goals saw Bombay Engineering Group knock out Tamil United, Ghorpadi from the late Surendra Anand Memorial State-Level Invitation Football Tournament at the Ammunition Factory, Khadki ground, here today.

Tamil United, who kept the marauding Bombay Sappers at bay, found their citadel crumble in two snap goals withi a matter of two minutes to go down fighting.

Sakhbir Singh, cashing on a pass from Kun L L Kunji, found the target in the 43rd minute. Kunji, with a fine solo thrust made the issue safe for the Engineers. He was adjudged as the 'Man of the Match'.

Deccan XI 'A' took full measure of Range Hill Young Boys with a facile 3-nil triumph over them. Going into an attack mode, the Deccan XI saw two of their fine moves between Prashant Pardeshi and Chetan Kamble, with the former putting them in the lead in the 14th minute.

Sharad Pawar made it two nil three minutes later and Sunit Bokre completed the tally in the 57th minute, with a fine solo thrust. It was Kamble's turn to be adjudged as the 'Man of the Match', paving the way for Deccan XI's goals.

The other team from Pune city to move into the second round was Parshuramians, who got the better of Kirkee Blues by a 3-1 goal difference.

Two goals by Milind Rane in the 16th and 42nd minute after Nitin Ganjwe gave them the lead in the 11th minute saw the Parshurmains took a firm hold over the match. The consolation goal for the Kirkee Blues came through Mario Fernandes in the 50th minute of play.

Milind Rane of Parshuramians was adjudged 'Man of the Match'.
