Bihar govt. increases annual subsidy for Haj committee

Patna, Dec 1 (UNI) The Bihar government today announced to increase the annual subsidy of Rs 20 lakh from existing Rs 10 lakh for Haj committee of the state.

Addressing a function organised at Haj Bhavan, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar while congratulating the first batch of 105 Haj pilgrims announced the enhancement of fund for basic amenities for Mecca pilgrims. He also urged them to pray there for well being of humanity.

He said the subsidy had been doubled aiming at to provide better amenities for the pilgrims.

Minority Welfare secretary Rashid Ahmad Khan said that about 2500 pilgrims have registered their names for Haj. He said every day a batch of 105 pilgrims would leave for the pilgrimage.

Minister of State for Minority Welfare Manjar Alam, MP Shahnawaz Hussain and others were alo present at the function.
