Hyderabad, Dec 1 (UNI) Three-wheeler drivers staged a dharna at the Road Transport Authority (RTA) office here today, protesting against Andhra Pradesh government's decision to introduce digital metres and the levy of Green Tax.

Drivers who demanded withdrawal of GO 213, alleged that the authorities had taken bribes from digital metre manufacturers and were forcing the decision on them.

They also warned that they would intensify the agitation throughout the state, if the government did not withdraw the Green-Tax on three wheelers.

The state government had decided to introduce digital metres in the capital initially, in view of complaints from commuters that the mechanical metres were being tampered by auto rickshaw drivers. There are no metres in several towns and cities, in the state.
