Asom 162 for three against Railways in Ranji tie

Guwahati, Dec 1 (UNI) A solid 86 not out by Arun Kumar, helped Asom reach 162 for three on the opening day of the Ranji trophy tie against Railways when the stumps were drawn today.

Arun Kumar and Nishanta Bordoloi, who was batting on 22, took the host side to a respectable position against the former champions.

They stitched together 102 runs for the third wicket and steadied the innings after three Asom batsmen departed without troubling the scoreboard too much.

Asom lost Parevz for 34 and Sauvik Das (5) and Parag Das (O) did not cross the single digit mark.

J P Yadav and Sanjay Bangar picked up one wicket each for Railways.
