56 Haryana employees held for stopping Delhi-bound buses
Sonepat, Dec 1 (UNI) As many as 56 employees of the Haryana Roadways were detained at Kundli border while they were trying to stop the Delhi-bound state buses in protest against the capital's police slapping challans on them.
Police said Sarv Karmchari Sangh (SKS) president Harnarayan Sharma was among those arrested for trying to stop the traffic on Delhi-Ambala highway. They were taken to Sonepat city police station.
However, the traffic on the highway was running smoothly, police said.
The Sarv Karmchari Sangh (SKS) and the Sarv Karmchari Mahasangh (SKM) of Haryana Trasport employees had given a call for not plying state roadways buses in the Delhi area in protest of ''unjustified challaning'' of the buses. The employees claim that the challan money was not being reimbursed to them by the state government.
The state government had yesterday appealed to the Haryana Roadways employees not to stop buses plying to Delhi.
Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary (Transport) Ramendra Jakhu said the government had made all arrangements so that buses could reach Inter-state Bus Terminus (ISBT) in Delhi.
He said videography of the buses reaching Delhi was being made and those employees, who would try to disrupt the bus services, action would be taken against them for dereliction of duty.
