Only BJP can change MP's fate: Chouhan
Pandhana, MP, Nov 30 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today claimed that only the BJP had the potential to change the face as well as the fate of the state.
Mr Chouhan made the statement while addressing election meetings while canvassing votes for Pandhana assembly by-poll in favour of BJP candidate Devendra Verma.
Pointing out that people had got relief from problems of road, power and water, he said the BJP was making valiant efforts to develop the state.
He alleged that the Congress did not fulfill its promise of waiving electricity bills of agriculturists but the BJP waived Rs 1,783 crore of electricity bills as soon as it came to power.
Reiterating that he had joined politics not from the viewpoint of profit but taking it as a religion, he said he desired to serve poor and backward through this medium.
He asserted that the state government was working towards improving the condition of farmers and poor people, while efforts were being made to make agriculture a profitable profession.
Mr Chouhan claimed that Madhya Pradesh was the first state where interest on loan has been reduced from 14 per cent to seven per cent.
He said he had started a scheme for the benefit of girls wherein an insurance was done for a girl at the time of her birth so that she could receive Rs one lakh when she turned 21.
Similarly, amendments were made to the Revenue Book Circular in order to provide relief to farmers affected from natural disasters.
He said a separate panchayat would be called on the lines of Kisan Panchayat for tackling problems related to electricity.
Former state BJP President Satyanarayan Jatia also addressed the meeting.
The by-poll was necessitated due to the death of BJP legislator Kishorilal Verma. His son, Mr Devendra Verma, has been fielded as the BJP candidate.
