One killed in police firing at Osmanabad
Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Nov 30 (UNI) Authorities clamped curfew in Osmanabad town, about 250 kms from here, after one person was killed in police firing today, Special Inspector General of Police (IGP) Bhagwantrao More said.
Talking to UNI over telephone, Mr More said one person was killed in police firing at Osmanabad. police were forced to open fire to quell a mob, protesting the desecration of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar's statue in Kanpur, at Bhimnagar locality in the town around noon.
The authorities imposed curfew from 1530 hrs to maintain law and order in the troubled town which had witnessed violent incidents of arson and stone pelting since last night, police sources at Osmanabad said.
