CPI(M) urges PM to ensure stoppage of bauxite mining

Visakhapatnam, Nov 10 (UNI) The CPI(M)) District Unit Secretary Ch Narasingarao today urged the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to ensure stoppage of bauxite mining and proceedings on bauxite refinery in the district.

Talking to newspersons here he said the mining would lead to high-level ground pollution as red mud and other pollution matter would be let into the local streams and rivers.

Mr Rao said there was no need for entrusting the preparation of report on environmental impact to a private agency when the Government- owned training and research institute was there to carry out such tudies.
