Corpus fund of Maulana Azad foundation hiked by Rs 200 cr

New Delhi, Nov 30 (UNI) The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) today approved the augmentation of the corpus fund of the Maulana Azad Education Foundation (MAEF) from Rs 100 crore to Rs 200 crore for 2006-07 to enable the institution to effectively help target groups.

Since its inception in 1989, MAEF has sanctioned Rs 85.88 crore to 666 NGOs throughout the country for construction/expansion of school/colleges/girls hostels/polytechnics/ITI and distributed scholarships to 6989 girl students amounting to Rs 6.98 crore.
