Army officer among 3 injured, 3 ultras surrender in J and K

Baramulla, Nov 30 (UNI) A senior Army officer was among three soldiers wounded in a powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast in north Kashmir this afternoon while three ultras surrendered at Doda in Jammu region, official sources said.

They said militants trigerred a powerful IED at Khawaja Bagh, about 2 km from Baramulla in north Kashmir on the highway when Army vehicles were passing the area.

Sources said a Deputy commandant of Rashtriya Rifles and two other soldiers were injured in the blast.

The blast was so powerful that its sound was heard in the entire town.

The entire area has been cordoned off and a massive hunt has been launched to nab the militants responsible for the blast.

An official spokesman said three ultras surrendered along with two AK rifles, eight magazines, three hand grenades, 185 rounds of ammunition and one wireless set at Dachan area in Doda district.
