6 suspects taken into custody in Kanpur

Kanpur, Nov 30 (UNI) Police today took six suspects into custody in connection with the desecration of a statue of Dr B R Ambedkar in Kakadeo area of the city yesterday.

SSP P C Meena said police picked up the suspects from their houses and they were being interrogated.

Tension had gripped the Kakadeo area yesterday when locals found the statue in front of Kulwanti Hospital vandalised.

Getting the information, a large number of BSP activists gathered at the spot and later blocked the road. They also burnt Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav in effigy UNI ATI VS YA BS1718
