Mizoram invests Rs 60 cr in new power projects
Aizawl, Nov 29 (UNI) With an aim towards improvement of power supply in the region, the state power and electricity department has taken up seven new projects worth Rs 60 crore during the next year.
The new schemes include three hydel projects and four plans of improving of sub-station and distribution network in the region tentatively by 2007, additional chief engineer of power department H L Parthasarathy told UNI.
The power department has taken up these projects under a non-lapsable central pool of resources such as the improvement of sub-station and distribution network within the region at a cost of Rs 32 crore with 85 per cent physical achievement and construction of a 132 KV line from Bairabi to Bawtlang, Kolasib district, at a cost of Rs 4.56 crore, he added.
Another 132 KV double circuit transmission lines from Kolasib to Seruli at a cost of Rs 3.15 crore and 132 KV double circuit transmission line from Kolasib to Melriat sub-station at a cost of Rs 21.51 crore is also in the pipe line, he said.
The department has also taken up three hydel projects, such as Maicham stage-II (3MW), Seruli B (12MW) and Lamsial (500MW) of which Seruli B hydel project has already been awared to BHEL-MECON company.
Mr Parthasarathy added that the department had also taken up construction of 132 KV lines from Saitual to Darlawn, from Khawzawl to Lungdar and from Khawzawl to Ngopa under the North Eastern Council Scheme.
