Honda launches all new CR-V in India
Mumbai, Nov 29 (UNI) Honda Siel cars India, leading manufacturer of premium cars in the country, today launched the all new third generation Honda CR-V here.
The new and completely redesigned Honda CR-V offers a distinctive combination of 'Comfort of a sedan with sporty drive of an SUV'.
The vehicle has new age aerodynamic exterior styling, luxurious interiors and advanced 2.4 litre i-VTEC engine. Other premium features include real time four wheel drive, six speed manual and five speed automatic transmission with grade logic control and drive by wire throttle system, said Honda Siel Cars India Ltd president and CEO Masahiro Takedagawa here today.
He described the new car as 'premium, urban SUV which will redefine the SUV segment in India and change the way SUVs are viewed and driven in India'.
The all new CR-V is powered by Honda's 2.4 litre engine, a double wishbone rear suspension and mcpherson strut front suspension.
The manual transmission version of the car is priced at Rs 18.15 lakh while the automatic transmission version at Rs 18.88 lakh (ex-showroom in Mumbai).
Mr Takedagawa said the new CR-V is targeted at a young generation with an average age of 35 to 40 years.
The Honda CR-V, which made its debut in the world in 1995 has cumulatively sold more than 2.5 million units in 160 countries so far. Since it was first launched in 2003 in India, a total of 5,547 CR-V units have been sold cumulatively in the country, the company's CEO added.
Other new features in the car include tilt and telescopic steering, driver side eight-way power seat adjustment, dual climate control air-conditioner, six-CD MP3/ WMA changer and a large, centrally-located LCD panel which digitally displays engine coolant temperature and fuel stock along with a variety of other information.
The all-new Honda CR-V comes in all new range of colours, offering new shades such as green tea metallic, new red pearl, whistler silver metallic, night-hawk black pearl and premium white pearl.
The Honda CR-V was first introduced in India in July 2003 and the second generation CR-V in 2004. The new model with several aesthetic enhancements was also made available in manual transmission and it further strengthened Honda's leadership in the SUV segment.
